Do you think I am
usually confused
or generally bewildered?

see...

The reflection of you is my cellar.
Even if I close my eyes real, real tight
I still can't find a battery
for my flashlight.

Oh, to right sheepskin rafts
down the Yellow River.

Clementines unzip,
peel in one piece.
So, can't you tell me now?
Look at me at least?

I cry seeps dirt
I, ripe rain, fall

Dear Plato,
That last painting I wrote
wasn't about me.
How many times removed
is that?

You say:
"I don't believe in fairies.
Sorry, Tinkerbell."
yeah, just say that -
and leave me sick as hell.

Now I'm not really feeling so well.
But, if I need anything,
Do I just ring this little bell?

and if that little bell
don't sound
momma's gunna put me
6 feet underground

my absent handgun law

"What the Fuuu ..."
says a man riding past on a bike
yup they're tearing it down
were crossing the street
they're spittin
were steppin to 'em
cause we're mad
(and it's fun)

"What the Fuuu ..."
Run, Run, Run
says a man
who had a gun to my jaw
with stress I use my hand
to twist the gun to his chest

The cops make the arrest
no need to confess
They found the gun a block from his vest

In a French Bar

(America shows up to a party-
w/ a rolled up bill in nose)
"Where's the party?!"
Youre an American Hero

America,
we don't care about you
but we care about the gifts
you give the people
we do care about

I'd like to used my god-given ingenuity
American Ingenuity
to give the world the gift of ...
an American riding a sled down Mt Everest

It's hard to be an American
over here in this corner of the bar

petty,
trite,
pretty, pretty spite

freeze-dried bar fight

three words...
sounds like...

inside
myside

pulled through
pushed new

How I do love you.

cigarettes, soap, screwdriver
my liver is a liar

you filter through just fine
in fact, you're quite divine.

The Warmth of Sickness

I feel the warmth of sickness pass behind me
The warmth of sickness is glowing in the booth behind me
I try to warn the busboy but I only talk to my comrade
and fail to save this seemingly nice Salvadorian man
the feeling subsides and another man is seated
A woman an overheard vice-president of a company
talks to a young priest by the bar
My order comes and I eat when the priest leaves
the food is different in a good way
like anything different and good
I eat chicken and sauce and beer
wondering and surprised as a friend arrives
I say Huh to the news of a bleed that won't stop bleeding
a reason to worry

the stars shine on us

this is the party, we are the party
ride ride ride ride ride
up the hill
and strip when you get home
wash it off so that it doesn't hurt
and let it air dry
forever
sensational
eat the left overs
cold
and delicious
ride ride ride ride ride
down the hill down the hill down the hill
find the house
and get inside
everyone

I know you, 201
what are you thinking 201!
I've got your number,
and don't forget there are five of us

grown up and writing poetry
living with responsibility
and the man
with a beard
he comes home at night
to sleep with me
and they go home at night to sleep with eachother
and they go home in the morning
together and alone
the street team

Are you okay up there?
you're walking awfully fast
and I thought I heard some swearing
are you okay up there?
I have to stop here and get a slice of pizza
maybe we’ll see you next week
I have to pay a bill
I changed my coat three times
and my feet still hurt
I think I am going to be sick
I feel very guilty
and I think you are too

Akimbo

Shit up the river
without a pancreas

our siamese connection
as grown gangrenous.

Your standing too close:
clinging, cliffhanging
to catagorized cringes...

alliteratory slap.

outs sucked the wind
and knocked it back in

My elbow was punctured
by a passing railing
and blood fell out.

souvenir from Sophie

Sophie brought this Danielle Steel book back from Italy.

Also, we should try to sell recordings of the Transformer reading to raise money to publish something else (or beer). Anyone have a design in mind that we could put in CD cases? Brian? Optimus Prime? Anyone?

Also again, Mike Anderson is coming into town this weekend and he DJs on a radio station up by Baltimore. Maybe well get some airtime. This is America. Anyvenue goes Baybee! America.

Commuting in the Capital

It's 7am I'm
splashing coffee
down the sink
and out the door
past the busstop
I check the papers
red my breath is
white the air is
blue a jogger
passes me but
I'll pass him
walking up the
hill past police
in the park past
my old place past
the place next
to my old place
by where I used
to run birds
yelling buses
bark two cars
are not courtious
as they corner
a metro employee
nearly hits me
crossing the walk
bolting across the
road I startle a
man reading the
paper in front of
7-11 I decide I
have enough time
to go in and get
nothing I smile
I see a woman who
is smiling we smile
at each other again
I see another woman
smiling I smile
at her
she stops
a dog walking
looks back
and growls?
I see Carlos
Jeremy crosses
the walk we
walk down the
hill as my nose
runs to work

Tea Ana Left

Drinking chai tea
out of ah big mug
It's like putting my head
in half ah coconut
For ah second
I'm in ah big pool of mud
in ah sea cave
warmed by lava
& sugar
